National Tight Ends Day was in Week 7, and the position certainly showed out for the occasion, but the best may be to come. Because I see several matchups tight ends have a chance to shine in Week 8.
In fact, a whopping 50 percent of my favorite touchdown picks for Sunday's slate of games are tight ends. You can read about more below. These are my anytime touchdown scorer predictions for the day.
Baltimore Ravens at Buffalo Bills
Zay Flowers (+120)
Even with Lamar Jackson out, Flowers was a presence in the passing attack, catching eight passes for 137 yards and a score in last week's loss to the Bengals. With Jackson likely back, his chances to score only increase against a Buffalo secondary that has allowed the most touchdowns to receivers this year.
Tennessee Titans at Cincinatti Bengals
Chase Brown (-145)
One of Ja'Marr
Chase and Tee Higgins are likely to score, maybe both, but by going running back, you don't have to choose. Especially after Tennessee's trade of Jeffery Simmons, and with Cincy likely in a positive script most of the game, Brown should have opportunities to score his first touchdown since Week 1.
Arizona Cardinals at Dallas Cowboys
George Pickens (+120)
CeeDee Lamb is the clear No. 1 in this passing attack, which explains his -135 odds to score after a two-touchdown performance last week. But Pickens also reached the end zone in that win over Philly, and Arizona is another good matchup for both receivers. So give me the value on the No. 2 guy.
Minnesota Vikings at Detroit Lions
T.J. Hockenson (+240)
Hockenson caught his second touchdown of the season last week. Now, let's see if he can get a streak going against the team allowing the most touchdowns to tight ends this year.
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars
Brenton Strange (+220)
Strange has received at least seven targets over the Jags' last three games with 19 total catches and not a single touchdowns. It's only a matter of time until he scores his first since Week 1.
Las Vegas Raiders at New York Jets
Mason Taylor (+425)
With 12 targets for nine catches and two touchdowns over his last two games, Taylor's growing chemistry with Geno Smith will be on display again against the Raiders.
Cleveland Browns at Pittsburgh Steelers
Pat Freiermuth (+325)
Six of Aaron Rodgers' last nine touchdowns have gone to tight ends, including three to Freiermuth who should be the next recipient after Darnell Washington caught the latest score last week.
Atlanta Falcons at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Bucky Irving (-115)
Irving has four touchdowns over his last three games, and his production should only increase with Baker Mayfield back in the lineup.
Los Angeles Chargers at Los Angeles Rams
Blake Corum (+175)
Corum had as many touches as Kyren Williams (-165) last week and both reached the end zone. So why not take the back with the cheapest odds.
Kansas City Chiefs at Denver Broncos
Travis Kelce (+210)
KC's wide receivers are failing the team right now, so expect Patrick Mahomes to fall back on ol' reliable Kelce when it's time to make things happen.
New England Patriots at Miami Dolphins
Hunter Henry (+165)
Henry's two-game scoring streak ended last week, but he instead set season-highs with seven catches for 71 yards. He remains the hot man in New England's passing attack for this Week 8 matchup.
Philadelphia Eagles at Washington Commanders (SNF)
Stefon Diggs (+230)
Diggs is important as ever to the Commanders with Terry McLaurin out for the season. Philly is a beatable matchup for the veteran receiver.
