Tuesday brought about sad news when it was revealed that music icon, actress, and businesswoman Dolly Parton had died at the age of 80. The announcement of her death was made by her nephew, Bryan Seaver, in a post that was disseminated throughout social media on Tuesday afternoon. Parton had been dealing with an undisclosed health issue she had recently documented, but it's unclear if that was related to her death

“My family and I have shared a lifetime of beautiful memories with Dolly [Parton], but so have you. She has always been on your television, your record player, your CD and on your phone playlist, becoming an extended part of your family whether you liked it or not. Our family and the team
she has entrusted with her legacy will work diligently to ensure her spirit will live with us forever. Dolly was a farmer, just like her daddy; he farmed the soil, she farmed songs and happiness. Dolly called me and said she wants to rest in a beautiful bed of plush cotton because after a life of wearing heavy rhinestones, she finally deserves to be comfortable and have some rest.”
Parton was the best-selling country music artist of all time with major hits like "Jolene" and "I Will Always Love You." She had an illustrious career spanning decades, evolving into notable acting credits like 9 to 5, for which she wrote and sang the iconic theme song of the same name, and even business management, such as her theme park "Dollywood," located in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee.
