Is a Kyle Pitts redemption tour on the horizon for fantasy football
owners? Following a 2025 campaign that was one of the best in his professional career, Pitts has been virtually non-existent in the Atlanta Falcons' offense through the first two games of the 2026 NFL season. In fact, he's been involved so little that it's likely led fantasy football owners to either drop or consider dropping the former No. 4 overall pick.However, if you believe in coach talk, it may be worth pumping the brakes and keeping Pitts on the roster (still very much on your bench). First-year Falcons offensive coordinator Tommy Rees spoke this week about Pitts specifically and took ownership of the 25-year-old's slow start while calling him an "integral part" of the team's
plans.
"We gotta get it going. That's my job," Rees said. "He's an integral part of what we wanna do, and we had a couple missed opportunities there in Week 1. Probably didn't have as many last game."
"But we know what he does well. We know where he can be a matchup. We know where we can really make sure that he's impacting games. But I gotta do a better job with that and make sure that his talents come into the forefront. We take a lot of ownership on that as a staff."

This is a strong statement from Rees about his understanding of the team's need to involve Pitts. While coaches can say anything, of course, he seemed to fully grasp the importance of Pitts' role in the Falcons' offense moving forward. However, after Pitts signed a three-year, $54 million contract extension with $36 million guaranteed in June, it's still a bit shocking to see him have just one catch for 15 yards through two games.
For good measure, the Falcons are also expected to get Michael Penix Jr. back from injury, which could boost Pitts' production for the rest of the season.
