Dolly Parton, an all-time legend of a musician, songwriter, performer and actress, has died at the age of 80.
Her nephew, Bryan Seaver, delivered the news in a lengthy statement on Instagram which you can see below. What was the cause of death? None was given in a statement from her family, only that she "died peacefully today in Nashville.”
“A rhinestone life that shone bright enough for the world to see, Dolly will forever stand as an inspiration not only through her timeless music and prolific songwriting, but also her wit, warmth, and kindness that made us all feel like family," the statement said. "Dolly Parton’s legacy is one of love, compassion, and resilience. With a seven-decade career, she inspired multiple generations of artists and fans
with her music and an unwavering commitment to making the world a better place. Her songs will continue to resonate with people of all ages, and her philanthropic work will have a lasting impact.”
Dolly Parton had health issues earlier in the year
In August, she was scheduled to attend a Dollywood appearance that she missed. Through a video, she spoke about her issues with her health and why she wouldn't be able to travel.
More from USA TODAY:
In May, the "9 to 5" singer canceled a series of Las Vegas concerts and revealed that she had been suffering from multiple medical issues in recent years, including kidney stones. The announcement came seven months after she had postponed the shows, leading her sister, Freida Parton, to draw concern after asking for prayers for the singer.
"My immune system and my digestive system got all out of whack over the past three years. And [doctors] are working real hard on rebuilding and strengthening those," Parton said at the time. "Just think of me as like an old classic car, that once restored can be better than ever."
