The New York Giants will open the 2026 season Sunday night agains the rival Dallas Cowboys, and having star wideout Malik Nabers would go a long way towards helping them pull off the upset.
Whether or not he'll be available, however, remains a question as Nabers continues to work his way back from the torn ACL he suffered in Week 4 of last season. Head coach John Harbaugh said the public will know Nabers' status when game designations come out Sunday.
Any optimism about the wide receiver playing comes from his full participation in practice this week, but he still carries a questionable injury designation. Nabers said Thursday the team is leaving it up to him to decide if he's ready to make his return, and he's putting the decision in God's hands.

"I've been wanting to play for so long now. At the end of the day, I can't put my career at risk. I got to take that into account," Nabers said. "There is a lot of football that I still have left to play. So making a split decision on when am I [playing], when do I think I'm able to perform rather than just go out there, I think the coaches know that and I know that. I have a lot more football to play. So just being conscious and making sure I'm at the right standpoint of going back out there."
Should Malik Nabers start in fantasy?
Leaving Nabers in fantasy lineups would be a risky move with the Giants playing Sunday night. Unless fantasy managers have a viable backup option from the Sunday or Monday night games, they may want to consider sitting Nabers this week. However, for those willing to assume the risk, Nabers is worth the start if he plays.
