The next game between the Chicago Bears and Green Bay Packers on Christmas Day is going to be a movie.
I know this because Caleb Williams — who might return from a hamstring injury in Week 6 against the Atlanta Falcons — is clearly irritated about how Packers linebacker Zaire Franklin talked about the Bears and teammate Luther Burden III after Green Bay's decisive 31-7 win on Sunday (in which the quarterback obviously didn't play). Williams, of course, guided the Bears to two epic comeback victories over the Packers last season, including a win from down 21-3 in the wild card round.
Let me share more context about Sunday specifically. After Franklin went off on the Bears and Burden for trash-talking the Packers so much before Sunday's game, The
Athletic's Matt Schneidman noted that Williams "liked" his post on X featuring Franklin's rant. For the many of you who are no doubt familiar with social media and all of its trimmings, Williams "liking" it is almost certainly his way of saving the rant as motivation for later. Ahead of his possible and much-needed return to Chicago's lineup, Williams is already keeping receipts.
Now that is spicy, dearest readers.

You know what'll be especially delicious about the Bears-Packers rematch later this season?
It should have both Williams and Packers star pass-rusher Micah Parsons available with both teams ideally at full strength amid potential respective playoff pushes. Amid all of this Franklin, Burden, and now Williams tension, I can't wait see to what the next episode of the NFL's oldest rivalry will now have in store for us.
Bears-Packers, with both teams being relevant, is back, folks.
