Glen Hansard, the Irish singer for The Frames and an actor in films including The Commitments, Once and Cyrano, died at the age of 56.
"With broken hearts we announce the passing of Glen Hansard in the early hours of this morning," read an Instagram post from his official account posted on Wednesday morning. "We are still dealing with the shock of it all, so we kindly ask that the privacy of Glen’s family, colleagues and friends is respected at this difficult time."
What was the cause of death? He died in a motorcycle crash on Wednesday, per his management. According to the BBC: "Police are appealing for witnesses following the single-vehicle crash, which happened on Lower Road in Lucan, west of Dublin. It was reported to the emergency services
shortly before 04:30 local time."

Back in 2008, Hansard won the Best Original Song award for Falling Slowly, one of the songs from Once, whom he starred in with Marketa Irglova.
