ESPN has made it impossible to avoid Pat McAfee in its current form. The network's highest-paid personality is virtually everywhere from his daytime show to College GameDay to Monday Night Countdown.
But at least for now, ESPN has yet to assign McAfee to its flagship live sports broadcast: Monday Night Football. And a recent column from Front Office Sports
suggested that it was something the network would consider in the future. That's evidently news to McAfee.
While Joe Buck signed his extension to remain as ESPN's lead Monday Night Football announcer, color commentator Troy Aikman remains in contract negotiations. FOS' Michael McCarthy floated the notion that ESPN could view McAfee's Super Bowl altcast as a trial run for the MNF gig.
That prompted
McAfee's response on Wednesday.
This isn’t real.

Theres been zero conversation about this.
According to McAfee, there wasn't truth to the speculation and that no conversations about it had taken place.
We'll have to see how Aikman's contract situation plays out, though. Because ESPN has showed virtually no limit to how much McAfee it's willing to present to viewers.
