Anthony Edwards has gotten Michael Jordan comparisons early in his prospering NBA career. Now, Edwards has matched Jordan and one other NBA legend in the history books.
After going off for 45 points in Wednesday's 131-106 win over the Miami Heat, Edwards became the third player in NBA history to have multiple season-opening 40-point games. The other two: Jordan and Wilt Chamberlain.
“With Anthony’s mindset and abilities, he’s always thrived and lived for and embraced the moments,” Timberwolves coach Chris Finch said. “And opening night is always going to be a moment.”
Edwards was electrifying against Miami, spoiling Giannis Antetokounmpo's Heat debut by hitting big shot after big shot while talking trash throughout. He was efficient as he was prolific,
converting 16 of his 29 field goals including nine of his 17 3s.

LaMelo Ball thrived as Edwards' new running mate, scoring 21 points to go along with six assists and two steals. Finch's squad has the look of a legit championship contender after Game 1.
