Lamar Jackson's long-awaited return to the Baltimore Ravens lineup was short-lived.
After missing most of October with an ankle injury, the two-time MVP quarterback finally came back for the Ravens' AFC heavyweight road matchup with the Buffalo Bills on Sunday afternoon. It didn't last long. On his first offensive play from scrimmage, Jackson's right throwing hand hit pass-rusher Greg Rousseau on his follow-through. Jackson immediately came up awkwardly while in obvious discomfort. He ran right off the field with Ravens athletic trainers to the locker room for further evaluation.
That's never a good sign for a player's health. What a deflating turn of events for the superstar quarterback and his Ravens teammates:

It was later quickly revealed that Jackson had some sort of thumb injury. The exact extent of his thumb injury is unknown at the time of this writing:

Here's hoping the Ravens quarterback is OK and that we all get to watch his trademark brilliance very soon.
Who is Lamar Jackson's backup on the Ravens?
The veteran Tyler Huntley is Jackson's official backup on the Ravens' depth chart. Huntley has spent six of his seven NFL seasons with the Ravens.
