Why Ohio State's jaw-dropping Texas blown lead was historic

Ohio State just suffered the biggest blown lead by a top-ranked college football team in more than 20 years.

Per ESPN, "AP No. 1 teams are 197-0 when holding a 20-point lead at any point in the fourth quarter."

Well, it is now 197-1 since 2004... the only loss now belonging to Ryan Day and Ohio State. My goodness.

That is catastrophically terrible for a Buckeyes team that really didn't need this loss on their College Football Playoff ledger. Of course, there's plenty of time for Ohio State to clean things up, but the margin for error is thinner now.

Who does Ohio State play next week?

The team plays Kent State on Saturday, Sept. 19, at noon ET at Ohio Stadium.
