On Thursday night (well, stateside, that is), the NFL is going "down under." By that I mean, for the first time ever, the NFL is playing a meaningful game in Australia, as the Los Angeles Rams and San Francisco 49ers will square off in Melbourne at the legendary Melbourne Cricket Ground.
And on paper, it actually seems like a pretty good matchup! To many, the Rams are this season's clear Super Bowl favorites after they added Myles Garrett and brought back Aaron Donald (though, for good reason, Donald is not playing on Thursday). The 49ers have decidedly less hype than their NFC West rivals, but they still have the bones of a team that has played in two Super Bowls and four NFC title games since 2019. That whole mentioned rivalry thing does add extra
spice to the matchup, too.
As for the presentation of the game, it will be featured on Netflix with Noah Eagle serving as the play-by-play announcer while recent Pro Football Hall of Famer Luke Kuechly does color commentary.
