Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts will miss the remainder of the season due to a blood clot. More concerning details have since emerged.
For example, before his game against the Jacksonville Jaguars at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in London, the quarterback was reportedly in the hospital until 4 a.m. and played the game without any sleep. According to Tom Pelissero, the Eagles star was awake for approximately 36 consecutive hours before the game against the Jaguars.
NBC Philadelphia reporter John Clark clarified that it was "doctors orders" for Hurts not to sleep before the game.

While he participated in warm-ups, per Jeff McLane, he took the field "long after" the rest of the team before kickoff.
Some have noted that although sleep itself may not have exacerbated the blood clot concern, there is indeed increased risk with prolonged immobilization.
With this new information on mind, it begs the question: How was Hurts cleared to play this game in London considering he was not even cleared to sleep? This was obviously a dangerous and precarious situation that he found himself in and one that should get dissected from every angle.
Hopefully, for everyone involved, Hurts has as quick and easy of a recovery as possible considering the severity of the situation.
