Of course the New York Yankees would love to have captain and three-time MVP in the lineup for the 2026 Wild Card series against the Boston Red Sox. But as he deals with what's being called "a moderate strain of the soleus muscle in his right calf" by MLB.com, he was left off the Wild Card roster.
So when will he return? After he received a PRP injection that could help the rehab process, he has taken some batting practice and has been throwing, but we'll see if he can run, which will be a big factor.
So the hope is that if the Yanks do advance, he could come back for the ALDS. But that's still very much up in the air at the moment.
