In the current day and age of social media, there's an always-popular debate over whether professional athletes hear the "noise" that comes along with games, their own play, and more. And for Patrick Mahomes, it's safe to say that he does indeed hear it all, knows it's out there and going even one step further, he's basically prepared for it when it comes to the Kansas City Chiefs.
One narrative that's popular for non-Chiefs fans on social media is the ongoing belief that Mahomes and company always get the big calls in big moments. Admittedly, it's a belief that's probably not going to die down anytime soon, and when the Chiefs and Indianapolis Colts were in overtime on Sunday night, critics were likely chomping at the big to start ramping the chatter
up again.
Colts wide receiver Laquon Treadwell caught a long pass while his team trailed by three, but fumbled shortly after, prompting a review to determine whether he was down by contact before losing the ball. However, the officials ruled Treadwell was down, giving the Colts great field position and a chance to win the game with a touchdown.
Unfortunately for Colts fans, the offense didn't do much to move the ball beyond that play, kicking a field goal, which led to Mahomes and company going down and winning the game shortly after. But when the game wrapped up, Mahomes addressed that play, admitting he was "glad" the call didn't go the Chiefs' way... specifically because he didn't want to hear Twitter's reaction if it had.
"We had the big play in overtime where we think we stripped the ball," Mahomes said. "And [he] ended up being barely touched. I was actually kinda glad; I didn’t want to see Twitter's reaction if they would’ve called it a fumble. So we got to prove it the right way, get the stop there, and then go back out there and get a field goal."

Regardless of your feelings on Mahomes, it's not hard to appreciate the brutal honesty and even laugh a bit at how overwhelmingly loud the topic has become, considering he actually knew it was coming.
