Saturday Night Live returned this week with comedian Shane Gillis making his third appearance as host with singer Rosalia serving as the musical guest. Gillis had previously hosted in 2024 and 2025, making his return after a short stint as a cast member in 2019.
This week's cold open welcomed back Weekend Update host Colin Jost as Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and featured James Austin Johnson as Secretary of Health and Human Services RFK Jr. In the sketch, Jost's Hegseth came out to metal music to address the sailors of the USS Abraham Lincoln after their deployment.
"After 7 months at war, you're back home safe in sunny San Diego, which the president just asked Iran to blow up," Jost joked.
Johnson's RFK Jr. informed the servicemen and women
of the ongoing recalls and health challenges.
"I'm happy to report that America is healthier than ever," Johnson said. "That's why I would officially like to rename cold and flu season to cold and flu and listeria and measles and trench brain season."
When does SNL come back again for a new episode?
SNL will take a two-week break next before welcoming Obsession star Inde Navarette as host with musical guest Gracie Abrams.
