A family that boldly approached an aggressive bull elk recently in Estes Park, Colo., is fortunate to have escaped serious injury after the animal rejected its intrusion.
The accompanying footage, via The Untamed View, shows the family of four disregarding warnings and walking briskly toward an elk that was said to be dangerous.

It could be argued that the elk showed more restraint than the family members, including what appears to be a husband and wife who were nearly pinned against the side of a house.

The elk is shown lowering its head with antlers positioned toward both of them at different times, and fear is evident on each family member during the series of charges.

Viewers will note that the older man (husband?) nearly stumbles over a stone wall leading to a down-sloped driveway, and the woman (wife?) narrowly escapes physical contact as she rounds the corner of the house.
It’s not clear when this footage was captured, but the elk rut, or mating season, is underway in Estes Park and bull elk are particularly ornery. Tourists should treat the animals with respect but, of course, that's not always the case.
