Don't expect to see NBA legend Michael Jordan on NBC Sports this upcoming basketball season.
According to Front Office Sports' Michael McCarthy, Jordan is not expected to appear with Mike Tirico or in any NBC Sports segment during the 2026-27 NBA season.
"As always, the mercurial Jordan could change his mind," McCarthy wrote. "But right now, sources say NBC viewers likely won’t see or hear from basketball’s most famous face during the upcoming campaign."
Why isn't Jordan returning? Our best guess is he's just not interested or has other things to do with his time. He's Michael Jordan, after all. We're sure he's busy!
While Jordan's segments with Tirico weren't as expansive as an in-studio or on-site role, it was still a fun twist in the network's
NBA coverage. Maybe Air Jordan will change his mind before October rolls around?
When does the NBA season start?
The season begins Tuesday, Oct. 20, on NBC between the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons at 3 p.m. ET.
