The Kirill Marchenko Saga in Columbus might end with the winger getting traded soon. The player with 208 points in 292 NHL games with the Blue Jackets has been in NHL trade rumors all summer, with the talented forward not getting an extension from the franchise he's called home for his entire career.
But on Monday afternoon, with the NHL season starting in a day, there are multiple reports that the Toronto Maple Leafs are in talks with the Blue Jackets about a swap that would involve young Matthew Knies (who totaled 23 goals and 66 points last season). That's also meant the Leafs front office has been in touch with Marchenko's agent Dan Mistein about a possible extension, which would make sense when it comes to what Toronto wants to give up for
the winger.
