C.J. Gardner-Johnson isn't exactly known for impeccable decision-making. There's a good reason the Buffalo Bills defensive back is on his fifth NFL team in the last few seasons, and it's not just because of his declining play as an "older" player (he's not even 30!).
We saw a first-hand example of Gardner-Johnson's evident lack of maturity during the Bills' game with the Las Vegas Raiders on Sunday. After getting caught arguing with Las Vegas star tight end Brock Bowers late in the first half, the officiating crew on hand decided to eject Gardner-Johnson from the proceedings. It was a bit of a confusing decision, considering no one understood exactly what happened during the tiff at first.
It turns out the officiating crew got it right. Replay
footage showed Gardner-Johnson spitting on Raiders center Tyler Linderbaum during his unfriendly chat with Bowers. Yeah, that's going to earn an ejection every single time, folks. How gross and how immature all around:

There's showing physicality and playing with fire; then there's crossing a clear line of unnecessary disrespect. That's what Gardner-Johnson did by spitting on an opposing player. The Bills need a lot of the former. They need none of the latter. In all honesty, this is the sort of conduct that may well earn Gardner-Johnson a hefty fine, if not also a short one-game suspension.
Buffalo has a pivotal bye week coming up. It might have a decision on Gardner-Johnson's status moving forward, who is quickly proving to be more trouble than he's worth.
