It's hard to read too much into a preseason depth chart in the NFL, but when it comes to fantasy football, you have to read into the tea leaves. In the case of the Arizona Cardinals, though, it's worth looking at.
Despite the fact that Notre Dame running back Jeremiyah Love was the third overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft, he's not going to play in Thursday's Hall of Fame game against the Carolina Panthers. And on top of that? He's listed as the second-string running back behind Tyler Allgeier.
So if you're thinking about drafting Love -- perhaps somewhere in the third or fourth round -- is this something to worry about? Let's also remember that James Conner and Trey Benson are there (for now).

Rookie running backs are a risky
bet no matter what. Ashton Jeanty and Omarion Hampton didn't live up to their hype in Year 1. Bijan Robinson wasn't truly explosive until his second year. Remember what happened when we all put our faith in Clyde Edwards-Helaire? Right.
So the idea of banking on Love as a rookie is a risky one. Now you add in the crowded running back room and you've got some issues. That said...
Jeremiyah Love could still move up the Cardinals depth chart
We're talking about early training camp here. There's plenty of time for him to earn the starting job, but even then, I'm not drafting him at the ADP he might end up at. Despite the hype, there will be plenty of carries for Allgeier and Conner (if he's not traded or released).
Our advice: Revisit Love in Year 2, or draft him in keeper leagues where he might be a valuable player in the future.
