So long to Lionel Messi... sort of. The all-time legendary soccer star announced on Monday that he was retiring. But is the 39-year-old retiring from the game of soccer altogether or no?
The answer is: This is just a retirement from Argentina and international soccer. That meant his final game was for the 2026 World Cup final in a loss to Spain. So he'll continue to play for Inter Miami in MLS, where the forward spent Saturday scoring four goals on six shots on goal to go with an assist.
So there you have it: He IS retiring from international soccer with the Argentina national team but he's not done with the game on a pro level just yet.
