Monday night's game between the Chicago Bears and Seattle Seahawks is an NFC heavyweight bout that may be even more of a defensive battle than anticipated.
While we know how tough Seattle's is, Chicago's has been improved since giving up 37 points to the Panthers in the season opener (they rank ninth in EPA/play since Week 2). And they improved the defensive line by adding Jeffery Simmons in a trade with the Titans. So, touchdowns may be few and far between in this one.
Regardless, if anyone finds the end zone, I'm confident it'll be one or more of the players below. These are my favorite anytime touchdown scorer picks for Monday night.
Jaxon Smith-Njigba (-110)
The Bears don't have a single outside corner who can guard JSN. I know that's not saying much because not many
teams do, but Chicago is especially vulnerable in that area. Which could be bad news against maybe the best receiver in the league if the Bears are unable to generate pressure on Sam Darnold.
D'Andre Swift (-118)
Seattle's defense doesn't really have a weakness, so sticking with the starting tailback is always the best option under those circumstances. Especially when it's a player like Swift, who can also make plays as a receiver. If I were to suggest one other Bear, it'd be Luther Burden (+210), whose abilities as a gadget player could come in handy if Ben Johnson wants to use trickery to reach the end zone.
A.J. Barner (+195)
Chicago has allowed three touchdowns to tight ends over the last two games compared to just one to a wide receiver. So, if it's not JSN reaching the end zone for the Seahawks this game, it could be Barner -- if not both. Although Barner is still seeking his first score of the season, he ranks second on the team in targets and receptions.
