The Big Bear bald eagles -- Jackie and Shadow -- have been beloved by so many fans who watch their live stream of their nest. Just months earlier, the world watched as their eggs hatched to give birth to eaglets.
But Jackie's health has been an issue of late after a fight with other eagles left her under veterinary care. Ojai Raptor Center provided a new update on Facebook, and it's not a good one.
"Today's bloodwork brought some difficult news. Her packed cell volume (PCV) has dropped to 13%, which means her anemia has worsened since our last update," wrote the Center. "Our veterinary team is responding quickly. Additional advanced diagnostic testing is now underway, and expedited laboratory testing has been requested as we continue working to better
understand her condition and guide the next steps in her treatment."
The center also asked to "[allow] them the time and space they need to remain focused on patient care. Please refrain from calling, texting, emailing, or visiting our facility for updates."
We're all pulling for Jackie to be OK. Here's hoping the next update is a good one.
