Jayden Daniels made me sweat my 49ers pick last week, but Washington ultimately dug itself too big a hole to dig out of. Thank goodness. A second-straight survivor miss would make whatever the opposite of a survivor is... a casualty?
However, while I moved on in Week 6, the same can't be said for people who picked the Rams. Which seemed like a sensible pick at the time. They were playing the Cardinals, after all. But they were upset, as tends to happen from time to time, and their loss eliminated the highest percentage of players remaining in the Circa survivor contest. Which demonstrates how popular they were last week.
Hopefully, we don't see that type of upset in Week 7, because I'm pushing all my chips on the biggest favorite of the week.
The Week 7 survivor pick most likely to win
- Houston Texans (vs. New York Giants)
The Texans have found their groove. They're riding a two-game winning streak, and last week it was on the back of a suddenly explosive offense, not the defense. However, that defense still has best-in-the-league potential and you know they're just salivating at the thought of getting J.J. McCarthy in his first start for the Giants. This is a great matchup for Houston to keep the good times rolling.
Record: 4-2
The most strategic Week 7 survivor pick
- Texans
Why take the Texans now? Because the vast majority of potential cupcake matchups remaining on their schedule are on the road. Not that the Giants are cupcakes, per se, but they're a team in flux, turning to their third starting quarterback of the season. And Houston gets this game at home with momentum on its side.
Record: 5-1
My Week 7 survivor pick
- Texans
This is the first time all season my most likely to win pick, most strategic pick, and personal pick have all aligned. With the way C.J. Stroud is playing quarterback right now, I feel good about it -- even if the Texans can't run it.
Record: 5-1
Already used: Jaguars, Eagles, Lions, Packers, Cowboys, 49ers
