It's easier to feel better about the Green Bay Packers than the Carolina Panthers going into Thursday night's Week 8 matchup. Although both teams are coming off losses, Carolina's was a complete disaster, as the Panthers were blown out by 30 points at home by the rival Buccaneers.
However, in giving up 43 points to Tampa, the Panthers actually allowed just 64 yards and one score through the air. It's on the ground where most of the damage happened, and probably where Green Bay will want to attack the Panthers too.
That said, Carolina still managed as many scores (two) as the Packers did in their three-point loss to the Lions. So there's still room to pick a Panther to score, and that's where I'll start with my favorite anytime touchdown scorer
picks for this game.
Chuba Hubbard (-118)
Carolina picked the perfect game to get blown out, because Hubbard's limited usage Sunday (seven carries) should have him fresher than most backs in a short week. On Thursday, I expect him to be featured the same way he was in his previous two games when he ran for a combined 242 yards and three touchdowns.
Josh Jacobs (-140)
Jacobs didn't take long to have an impact this season, scoring a touchdown in his first game on a 25-yard reception. In game two, he'll have a much better chance to reach the end zone on the ground. Carolina gave up 246 rushing yards and three touchdowns to Bucs running backs last week.
Tucker Kraft (+175)
Kraft's usage has been up the last four weeks, a span in which he's averaged five catches and scored his only two touchdowns of the season, including one on Sunday. The Panthers don't give up a ton of catches to tight ends, but they have allowed four touchdowns to the position. Look for Kraft to have opportunities as Carolina dedicates more bodies to Green Bay's talented receivers.
