It's hard to imagine Wednesday's season opener going worse for the New England Patriots. The Pats blew a 10-point lead to Drew Lock after Sam Darnold left the game with a hip injury on the Seattle Seahawks' opening drive, with Drake Maye throwing three interceptions, including one that sealed the game.
It was also a disastrous night for the Patriots' two big offseason additions at wide receiver. Maye underthrew A.J. Brown on a sure-fire 36-yard touchdown, drawing a pass interference call instead. Romeo Doubs, meanwhile, went catchless on three targets, dropping one wide open ball and failing to come down with a contested catch that resulted in a Seattle interception.

Brown left the game with an ankle injury early in the third quarter, ending his night with three catches for 26 yards. Here's the latest on his health.
How serious is A.J. Brown's injury?
The severity of Brown's injury is unclear at the moment, though we do know it's an ankle and Brown underwent X-rays. Brown was also reportedly seen wearing a walking boot on his right foot after the game. Patriots coach Mike Vrabel declined to comment on Brown's status, though Doubs expressed optimism to The Boston Herald's Andrew Callahan.
“He told us that everything was going to be all right,” Doubs said postgame. “I’m glad he’s doing really well.”
The Patriots certainly need everything to be all right with Brown to get their season back on track.
