The Yankees thoroughly humiliated the Red Sox in the final two games of their weekend series in New York. But it wasn't just the on-field performance that left the Red Sox feeling embarrassed.
During the seventh inning of the second game of Sunday's doubleheader — which the Yankees went on to win, 16-1 — Red Sox radio announcer Will Flemming took exception to Jazz Chisholm Jr. stealing third base during a six-run game. Flemming thought that Chisholm was showing poor sportsmanship despite a six-run spread being within the realm of a comeback. It led to a rant that sounded deeply personal.
Flemming went on to call Chisholm a "bush league player" and floated the idea of the Red Sox throwing at the Yankees to retaliate. He later apologized for his comments.

Chisholm, though, wasn't in the mood to offer up forgiveness. He told reporters via USA TODAY Sports:
"You've seen teams – actually them (last season) – do the same thing where they're pouring on runs. We didn't have nothing to say or nothing to do about it. That's just showing how unprofessional he is."
WEEI has yet to announce any potential discipline for Flemming. He did not work the Red Sox's Monday night game against the Mariners, but the radio network claimed he was previously scheduled to be off that night.
