It's been a stressful start to the season for Sean McVay. After taking heat for the Los Angeles Rams' travel plans before their season-opening loss in Australia and blowing a 16-point lead in Week 3, McVay had to stomach another crushing defeat Monday night against the Buffalo Bills.
This time, kicking woes got in the way of a Rams victory. Harrison Mevis missed both of his two field goal attempts, including a would-be game-winner in overtime that Greg Rousseau managed to block.
McVay did not mince words about his frustration with the kicking unit postgame.
"Not even close to good enough," a visibly exasperated McVay said. "It cost us the game tonight."
This is about as upset as I’ve seen Sean McVay after a game. He blames himself for the conservative

After entering the season as Super Bowl favorites, the Rams are 2-3 and third in the NFC West. Here's how they'll move forward.
Are Rams cutting Harrison Mevis?
Nothing has been confirmed yet, but McVay said postgame the Rams are "evaluating everything" regarding their special teams. Mevis has been awful this season, converting only five of his nine field goal attempts for an NFL-worst 55.6%. It's been a major step back for Mevis, who made 12 of his 13 attempts for Los Angeles in 2025.
