If you're a fantasy football manager with Ashton Jeanty on your roster, you just hit the panic button after last week's Las Vegas Raiders running back split. Rookie Mike Washington Jr. ended up with 25 carries for 83 yards, while Jeanty had just two carries to go with three catches for 64 yards.
And while Jeanty's receiving work has been a highlight, that could spell bad news going forward, especially if health is a concern. The latest comments from Raiders head coach Klint Kubiak aren't going to help.
From Pro Football Talk, on the topic of the running back workload: "I think it’s always a moving target. You see where your team is at and who’s playing the best ball at the time. It’s a 17-game regular season where things change every week. They’ve
been changing at guard, they change up front defensively, they change at corner. That’s the NFL. We have a young roster and we’re going to give guys opportunities and see what fits us best. But your 11, whether you’re playing really well or not playing well at all, it’s always going to change a little bit.”
That wasn't exactly a ringing endorsement of Jeanty. What that tells me is Washington might be in line for more work going forward, and while that doesn't mean that Jeanty is RB2 all of a sudden, it could mean we see less running work for him. The good news? He's a heck of a receiver this season, so all is not lost.
