Why did the Miami Dolphins trade away quarterback Quinn Ewers on Saturday?
Per multiple reports, Ewers is now a Jacksonville Jaguar after his former team traded him in a 2028 NFL Draft day three pick swap. Ewers will now backup veteran quarterback Trevor Lawrence.
Why did Miami ship Ewers off? Well, the team must feel comfortable with 2025 sixth-round quarterback Cam Miller to backup Malik Willis this season. Well, either that or Miami has plans on going out and getting a new backup.
Ewers played in four games during his rookie season last fall, throwing for 622 yards, three touchdowns and three interceptions. He'll now be the guy in Jacksonville if something happens with Lawrence.

We'll see if Miami does anything else at quarterback, or if they're set with Miller as Willis' backup.
When do the Dolphins start the season?
The team plays at Las Vegas against the Raiders on Sept. 13 at 4:25 p.m. ET on Fox.
