The Denver Broncos offense has underwhelmed this season despite being the sixth-highest paid unit in the NFL. And after trading a first-round pick for a player who's hardly made an impact in Jaylen Waddle, Denver may not be done trying to buy itself points.
Denver reportedly approached the Arizona Cardinals about tight end Trey McBride, and as expected, Arizona has "zero intention" to deal its All-Pro tight end. However, the Broncos' tight end search continues ahead of Tuesday's trade deadline.
Evan Engram has been the Broncos' primary pass-catching tight end while Adam Trautman has been more of an in-line blocker. Neither has truly stood out, so here are three options for the Broncos to upgrade their tight end room via trade.
Mark Andrews, Baltimore Ravens
From drops to false
starts and a fumbled direct snap Thursday against the Jacksonville Jaguars, Andrews has had a brutal season. He's also 31 with another two years left on his three-year, $39 million deal. Still, Andrews is a proven pass-catcher and leader who could give Bo Nix a solid security blanket in the short to intermediate range.
Dallas Goedert, Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles are collapsing due to injury and Goedert is on an expiring contract. It'd make sense for general manager Howie Roseman to dump him before the deadline before losing him in free agency for nothing. Goedert, 31, isn't playing to his standards this season, but that speaks more to Philly's inconsistent quarterback play than his decline.
David Njoku, Los Angeles Chargers
Njoku is wasting away on a winless Chargers team after spending his first nine seasons with the Cleveland Browns. He deserves to go to a winner. For the Broncos, Njoku is appealing as the best blocker of these three options, making the 30-year-old a potential every-down player if healthy.
