The Kansas City Chiefs have been led by the offensive duo of Patrick Mahomes and Travis Kelce for 10 seasons, and they've done extraordinary things as teammates. Obviously, the three Super Bowl titles will stand atop their football resumes when the pair call it a career, but on Sunday night in an overtime win against the Indianapolis Colts, Mahomes and Kelce pulled off an NFL first.
While it's hard to find a record or feat that hasn't been done in the league's history, the dynamic duo of Mahomes and Kelce somehow did. And as unique as the feat is, it may not happen again for a long, long time. As OptaSTATs revealed, the Chiefs became the first team in NFL history to have a quarterback over 30 finish a game with 300-plus passing yards, and a tight
end over 35 tally 100-plus receiving yards in the same game.

To be clear, this is obviously an incredible statistic, largely due to Kelce's side of it. As Forbes detailed previously, the average NFL career of a tight end doesn't come anywhere near the 13 seasons Kelce has spent in the league. Even Rob Gronkowski retired (while still being productive) at age 33, so technically he and Tom Brady never had a shot at pulling off this feat.
Regardless, it's a true tip of the cap to Kelce's longevity and ability to continue playing at a high level even at age 36. As for Mahomes, there's little doubt we'll see plenty more 300-plus passing-yard games throughout his career.
