A tour company in Estes Park, Colo., on Saturday shared footage showing a youth football practice being interrupted by elk hoping to utilize the grass field."Put us in coach, we’re ready!" Good Bull Guided joked via social media. "Not only is it the best time of the year because of the elk rut, but it’s officially football season!"
The elk rut occurs in late-summer and autumn. It’s a time when the giant ungulates gather in lower elevations for mating rituals.

The Estes Park elk rut is a renowned tourist attraction, with tourists advised to maintain a safe distance.The football players and coaches shown in the footage appear accustomed to these intrusions.They're not at a safe distance. But they're not crowding the elk, or making sudden movements that might spook the animals.The top Instagram comment reads, "I just saw the 'It will kill you and we will not help you! GET BACK IN YOUR CAR NOW!' video."
That appears to be in reference to a viral video from last fall.
