In Week 1, it was the Los Angeles Chargers' loss to the Arizona Cardinals that doomed NFL survivor pools. This week, it was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers' home defeat to the Cleveland Browns that did them in.
Like the Chargers, the Bucs in Week 2 were selected by over 30 percent of entries in the Circa Survivor contest, making them the second-most popular team of a contest that started with more than 25,000 entries. And like the Chargers, Tampa let down those people hoping to claim a piece of the $25 million reward at the end of the season.
The Bucs' loss eliminated 6,603 entires, or 36 percent of the remaining field, which is down to 8,610. In total, more than 8,000 entries were eliminated in Week 2, including another 1,357 on the third-most popular
pick... the Chargers. Because some people never learn their lesson.
As someone who recommended the Bucs as the most strategic survivor pick of Week 2, I'm sure other contests likely reflected Circa's results. Thankfully, I listened to my gut and avoided picking the Bucs myself as part of my weekly survivor picks.
