Given the Dallas Cowboys' tough opening-week loss to the New York Giants, their bounceback performance against the Washington Commanders was unquestionably a major positive. From the word go, Dak Prescott and the Cowboys' offense looked the way most expected them to this season, rolling to a 37-20 win headlined by Prescott's 279 yards and four passing touchdowns.
All the preseason hype surrounding the Cowboys came together, at least in Week 2, and owner Jerry Jones felt good after the team's first victory of the 2026 season. So after the game, Jones approached reporters and dropped a quick one-liner/joke, as Nick Harris of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram highlighted.
"There is nothing more dangerous than an old man with money," Jones said.

The comment was some playful banter from the Cowboys owner, and while some Cowboys fans jumped on board with it and felt good after their team's first win, many other NFL fans jumped all over it almost immediately. Most notably, several fans of other NFL teams were quick to point out that, apparently, an old man with money "can't buy a Super Bowl.
Then, of course, there were Cowboys fans who pushed back with jokes about Jones not spending to upgrade specific areas of the roster (and the roster as a whole). Others called on Jones to "make a trade then" to help add upgrades, and many replies were also variations of this plea.

It's safe to say that while Jones' comments may have landed with reporters and a portion of the Cowboys fanbase, the broader group who saw them didn't exactly let out a lighthearted chuckle. Instead, it just focused on the pain points that fans have been talking about in recent years regarding Jones and his approach to upgrading the team's roster.
