Week 1 of the 2026 NFL season is nearly over. And if you play fantasy football, you’re already planning ahead for the next week of games to see if you can improve your squad. Maybe you have a spot open due to an injury or you're rethinking a player you took.
That’s what we’re here for, a roundup of some of the players you could be targeting ahead of Week 2 in fantasy football.
Some of the names below might be taken already, but if not, there are a bunch of dudes who could change your fantasy fortunes this season. Let’s run through them, in no particular order, and we'll update this after Monday Night Football.
RB Kaelon Black, San Francisco 49ers
Did the rookie play a lot more against the Los Angeles Rams because it was a blowout or because it's a timeshare with Christian McCaffrey?
It's a good time to find out either way.
RB Kendre Miller, New Orleans Saints
He's been discussed in fantasy football circles for a bit, and although Alvin Kamara could be back in Week 2, he might be worth a pickup just to see if his workload with Travis Etienne was a one-game thing or not.
QB Bryce Young, Carolina Panthers
He threw 37 passes as his team's defense gave up 59 points to the Bears. While that may not happen every week, he could be a solid backup on your bench or QB2 going forward after he tossed three scores and ran for one more.
WR Jalen Coker, Carolina Panthers
I assume he was mostly drafted in deep leagues, but if not? Go get him immediately. What we saw on Sunday was a continuation of what Coker did at the end of last season. And if the Panthers' defense is going to be as bad as it was, then Bryce Young is going to have to throw a ton.
WR Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers
He might be older now, but he's still a trusted name on the Niners, especially now that De'Zhaun Stribling is out for at least a month. He could be WR2 behind Mike Evans and continue to run occasionally.
WR Dontayvion Wicks, Philadelphia Eagles
The Eagles spread the ball around and Wicks did a lot with his limited targets. He might be a deep threat who booms and busts from game to game, but it's clear he's carved out some kind of role on this offense.
WR DeVaughn Vele, New Orleans Saints
The answer to who is the WR2 in New Orleans is Vele, a name that carried some preseason buzz heading into 2026.
WR Caleb Douglas, Miami Dolphins
He caught 5-of-7 passes for 94 yards, proving he's the top wideout in a Dolphins offense that might need to throw a lot.
WR DeMario Douglas, New England Patriots
With A.J. Brown out with his high-ankle sprain, it's Douglas who could see an uptick in volume.
TE Brenton Strange, Jacksonville Jaguars
He did catch a touchdown but didn't see a ton of volume. That's because the Jags built a big lead over the Browns. Let's see what happens in a closer game.
TE Michael Mayer, Las Vegas Raiders
Will Brock Bowers be back next week? Hard to say. So go get the guy who caught six passes last week.
