New England Patriots quarterback Drake Maye had his team in position to at least tie up the game late against the Seattle Seahawks on Wednesday night to start the season on the road.
However, he made perhaps the most boneheaded throw of his NFL career, putting the ball right into the hands of Seahawks cornerback Josh Jobe in the end zone to ice the game for Seattle. It was his third interception of the contest.
The throw is just inexplicable; the timing was even worse. New England could have easily just kicked a field goal if all else failed had Maye taken care of the ball.
It wasn't to be, and the Pats took a loss to a Seattle team without Sam Darnold. That's brutal and the absolute wrong way to start the season for New England.

Fans had no idea why Maye threw it... and brought some jokes to the table, too.
This is Drake Maye’s worst nightmare: playing against a team that is good
