To say that it's been a dramatic summer for Dylan Larkin and the Detroit Red Wings would be a understatement. The center and Michigan native who was drafted by the organization in 2014 has been a steady part of the Red Wings for 11 years, but he requested a trade in June and has a no-trade clause, so he can control where he goes.
Yet here we are with NHL training camps on the horizon and Larkin is still a member of the Red Wings, which made his captaincy very awkward. What did the Wings do? They stripped the "C" off his uniform heading into 2026.
Both Larkin and the Wings released statements on Friday morning about it:

Larkin had this to say:
“Over the past couple
of weeks, Red Wings leadership and I have had several in-depth discussions. I’ve appreciated those candid conversations, and I will be at training camp with my teammates. When new leadership is in place, we’ll talk further about the direction of the team. We will keep those conversations private, and I will keep my focus on the season ahead and on the guys in that room.”
Wow! Will the Red Wings trade him now? Or will Larkin continue to play for the franchise even without the "C"?
Where does Dylan Larkin want to be traded to?
The Detroit Free Press reported his three-team list of preferred destinations was: The Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild and Vegas Golden Knights.
