It took until only college football's official Week 1 for one of the most controversial moments imaginable to play out. Western Michigan had No. 16 Michigan on the ropes after taking a 12-7 lead in the fourth quarter. Michigan was left with a Hail Mary as its final shot at avoiding a significant upset, and that attempt came down on the hands of a defender outside of the back of the end zone.
Game over, or so the college football world thought.
The officials put one second back on the clock after the play, and, in perfect dramatic fashion, it was followed by pure chaos. Michigan's Bryce Underwood tossed a second Hail Mary attempt, which was pulled down by JJ Buchanan for a 47-yard touchdown.
Since that point, there's been endless debate over whether
the additional second should have been added to the clock. However, a new frame-by-frame video may have just given a definitive answer, and it's still heartbreaking for the Broncos.
