The Marvin Harrison Jr. trade engine continues to hum quietly in the background of the 2026 NFL season. The stickiness of possible deals has clung to a better-than-expected, still-not-great start from the Arizona Cardinals.
It would be an unplanned departure for a player who was supposed to be a franchise cornerstone of a rebuilding offense. Instead, Harrison Jr. has produced diminishing returns, leaving an 885-yard rookie season as the high point of his Cardinals career to date. Rather than come to a difficult conclusion regarding the fifth-year option (and the raise than comes with it), Arizona could opt to swap him out while his trade value remains... well, not high, but at least tangible.
Per ESPN senior NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler, Harrison's
trade value could come down to a fourth or fifth round 2027 NFL Draft pick. That's a modest cost for a former top five selection, though it also comes with the rookie contract attached to his lofty status. That means a $4 million salary cap hit for this season (though it'll be prorated by the same Harrison Jr. has already played by the time he's traded) and an $11.2 million cap hit in 2027 that can't be wiped clean by cutting him.
Who'd be willing to make that bet? I broke down five possible candidates here -- and I still think the Buffalo Bills could be the best landing spot for all parties available. Let's add five new teams to the mix, because there's no such thing as too much receiving depth.
New Orleans Saints
The Saints have invested in offensive upgrades around Tyler Shough. Last year's criticized Devaughn Vele trade has paid off. Drafting Jordyn Tyson hasn't yet, and given his college injury concerns have bled into his pro career -- he's yet to make his NFL debut -- it wouldn't hurt to add some more depth to the receiving corps.
Harrison would fit the bill as a high-upside swing from a franchise with modest cap space. He would allow general manager Mickey Loomis to add the kind of potential star he wouldn't be able to afford in free agency at a reasonable cost.
Cleveland Browns
Jerry Jeudy has fallen to pieces. Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion have shined in moments, but also carried the inconsistency you'd expect from rookies. The Browns are 2-1, and while Deshaun Watson, formerly accused of more than 20 counts of sexual misconduct and what an NFL investigation described as "predatory behavior," has shown signs of life, keeping him (or Shedeur Sanders) rolling will require reinforcements. Harrison Jr. could add to the team's stockpile of young wideouts and provide valuable ammunition for an offense whose run game continues to struggle.
Philadelphia Eagles
Jalen Hurts has been limited by strange playcalling andfewer downfield throws. Harrison is a viable intermediate and deep range threat, even if his 2026 hasn't reflected that (only six targets more than 10 yards downfield in three games). Harrison could spark the change the Eagles need to fix a moribund offense. Or he could get caught in the whirlpool and sucked into the depths with a rudderless Philly passing game.
Houston Texans
Houston's lack of receiving depth has been on full display with Nico Collins nursing a hamstring injury. A depth chart with Xavier Hutchinson and Jared Wayne atop the targets leaderboardis a major contributor to the Texans' 0-3 start and C.J. Stroud, once again, staring up at his own potential. Harrison is likely the best this team can do in terms of in-season additions, and he's a lottery ticket worth scratching for a team reaching desperation hours.
Las Vegas Raiders
Kirk Cousins has thrown nine touchdown passes for an undefeated team. He's leaned heavily on his tight ends, in part because he's a 38-year-old Kirk Cousins, but also largely because his top wideouts are Tre Tucker, Jalen Nailor and Jack Bech -- and Bech just hit the injured list with a broken arm. Why not give Harrison the opportunity to make the easy move north and see if a different journeyman quarterback can revive his value?
