The debate over the latest crop of fantasy football waiver wire pickups has begun, and the focus for running back-starved teams is on the Miami Dolphins backfield with De'Von Achane out for the year.
And while it might seem obvious to target Ollie Gordon II after he took over last week to the tune of 17 carries for 41 yards and a touchdown, there's also the presence of Jaylen Wright, who missed the Fins' loss to the Chiefs last week. So who is the preferred target here?
That answer is complicated. Gordon is probably the back who will be in the most high demand -- he got the volume last week, he's had some moments here and there in his 20 NFL games. But Wright is listed over Gordon on the official depth chart. My advice? If you aren't too desperate,
let everyone bid on Gordon and go with Wright, who could end up with the lion's share. There's also this to consider:

Rush yards over expected per attempt
Yards after contact per attempt
Missed tackles forced per attempt
Rushing success rate
But there's also other factors to consider: QB Malik Willis runs a lot and the Dolphins' offense is kind of a mess this year. So Gordon or Wright may not be the kind of plug-in RBs who elevate your team like you'd hope. That's why I'm not spending all my FAAB here. We'll see how this all shakes out soon enough.
