Shedeur Sanders is making a big change midway through his second NFL season. After entering the league without representation, Sanders has signed with an agent.
Adie von Gontard, CEO of Young Money APAA Sports, will now represent Sanders, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter. He's also the agent for Jacksonville Jaguars second-year star Travis Hunter, who played with Sanders at Colorado.
Sanders went 3-4 in seven starts for Cleveland as a rookie, then lost a competition for the 2026 starting job to veteran Deshaun Watson. The Browns offense has looked somewhat competent with Watson under center, as rookie receivers Denzel Boston and KC Concepcion have bolstered the skill positions dramatically compared to a year ago.
It's been an odd start to Sanders'
career. He was widely expected to be a first-round pick in 2025, but eventually slid all the way to the fifth round. Cleveland selected Sanders after taking Oregon lefty Dillon Gabriel in the third.
Here's how Sanders hiring an agent could affect his NFL future.
Is Shedeur Sanders getting traded?
Many have speculated Sanders could be on the move considering the timing of his agent hire. Marvin Harrison Jr. hired an agent last month after entering the NFL self-represented, and the Arizona Cardinals promptly traded him to the Houston Texans, where he'll reunite with his former college teammate C.J. Stroud. There's no indication Sanders will follow a similar path, as Cleveland has spoke highly of the former Colorado star and his development. Watson, for what it's worth, is in the final year of his fully-guaranteed $230 million deal.
