Stop me if you've heard this one before, but it's early November, and the Dallas Cowboys have some serious issues to figure out. On Sunday, the Cowboys found another way to test their fan base's patience, blowing a 24-10 fourth-quarter lead before falling 33-30 in overtime to the Arizona Cardinals.
The defeat dropped Dallas to 3-5, immediately adding more fuel to speculation that head coach Brian Schottenheimer could be fired midseason. However, Cowboys owner and general manager Jerry Jones made it clear in the locker room afterward that he is not contemplating a coaching change.
As longtime Cowboys reporter Ed Werder revealed, Jones told the media he doesn't see a midseason change happening "at all," referencing a prior in-season move to Wade
Phillips.
"I made a change, and I don't want to mention it because I'm not proud of it," Jones said. "But I made a change with Wade Phillips there in the middle of the season, and I don't see that here at all."
While Schottenheimer deserves his fair share of blame for a loss the Cowboys owner called "bewildering," Jones also pushed much of the blame away from his head coach, as The Athletic's Jon Machota highlighted.
"I will say that a lot of people let Brian (Schottenheimer) down today," Jones said.

Sunday's game was the latest in a list of games where the Cowboys appeared in position to pick up a much-needed win and, in this spot, move to .500 for the season. However, the Cardinals backed up some early-game trash talk, but had to do so in thrilling fashion.
However, to make this loss even worse for Dallas, the blown fourth-quarter lead was just part of the pain. After failing to close out the game offensively in the final minutes, the Cardinals scored with six seconds remaining but missed a game-winning extra point. Still, the defense stopped the Cardinals to start overtime, but the Cowboys' ensuing drive went for negative five yards on three plays before Arizona took over and eventually connected on a game-winning field goal.
Something has to change in Dallas, but according to Jones, it won't be Schottenheimer.
