Michigan coach Kyle Whittingham had a pretty crummy debut at the Big House on Saturday night... until the most shocking finish you could imagine when his team got a walk-off touchdown with one second left on the clock.
We're still not sure how the Wolverines almost dropped a textbook "gimme game" to start the season to Western Michigan, but it doesn't inspire a ton of confidence in how Michigan will play in 2026 under Whittingham... even if the team escaped.
Late in the game when it became abundantly clear that Michigan might actually blow this, the NBC Sports game camera caught Whittingham looking absolutely shook by what was happening. He looked frozen in time.

We still don't understand how the Wolverines almost botched this so badly, but Whittingham's face was almost the image most Michigan fans remember from this inauspicious debut.

The team hosts Oklahoma on Sept. 13 at noon on Fox.
