Let the NFL trade rumors begin: Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Joey Porter Jr. didn't get the contract extension he wanted after four years with the franchise, and now there are questions about his long-term future there.
Does that mean a trade is coming? That's uncertain at the moment with Week 2 looming and the NFL traded deadline just under two months away. But the speculation has definitely begun, especially as there's uncertainty if he'll play against the New England Patriots as he works his way back from a back injury.
Let's give you some trade ideas for Porter as we wonder how this will all play out:
New York Giants
The defense has a lot going for it in the pass rush with names like Brian Burns, Abdul Carter and rookie Arvell Reese. But the secondary? That's
a weakness for John Harbaugh's squad. Acquiring Porter would be a huge upgrade.
Detroit Lions
Desperate times call for desperate measures. They barely escaped with a win over the Saints in Week 1 and gave up 41 points to the Buffalo Bills on Thursday. Bringing in some much-needed help at cornerback -- especially with Terrion Arnold gone -- could help right away.
Dallas Cowboys
A fairly obvious team to name here. Jerry Jones likes to make deals and an addition on a defense that struggled against the Giants last week could use the assistance.
Kansas City Chiefs
With Mansoor Delane getting injured, the door could be open for adding Porter.
Chicago Bears
Injuries in the secondary -- Coby Bryant and Kyler Gordon -- are a problem, and if the Bears want to contend, Porter would be a HUGE addition via trade with the Super Bowl window open.
