The Giannis Antetokounmpo era is officially underway for the Miami Heat. Following the blockbuster trade to acquire the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player, Antetokounmpo made his debut in a Heat uniform on Saturday in a preseason game against the Toronto Raptors. Not surprisingly, he meshed with his new teammates immediately, dishing out seven assists while scoring nine points in 14 minutes.
While Antetokounmpo's preseason debut was impressive, it seems he's also a big fan of his new home, and specifically the often-talked-about "Heat Culture." Although there may be no official definition of Heat Culture, Giannis officially confirmed that it's very real.
In a recent interview with The Athletic's Eric Nehm, Antetokounmpo explained that Heat Culture
isn't just a fun type of branding for Erik Spoelstra's squad. Going even one step further, the Greek Freak gushed about how much he loves it.
“No, it’s real,” Antetokounmpo said. “It’s real.”
"...It’s real, and I love every [expletive] second of it. I’m not even gonna lie. It gives me goosebumps. It’s almost like being alive again," he added.
That's an eye-opening level of support for Miami's well-known moniker, one that he described as "togetherness," "communication" and "hard work."
