The Michigan Wolverines football team is having a turbulent 10 months. First, head coach Sherrone Moore was fired after an inappropriate relationship with a staffer came to light -- later leading to his arrest for stalking and home invasion (he'd take a plea bargain in the spring). A rocky coaching search appeared to have fallen flat before a late push hired respected veteran Kyle Whittingham away from the University of Utah.
Whittingham's first game as the team's head coach wentabout as poorly as any win ever has. In the weeks since he's gone winless in the Big Ten and plummeted out of the rankings. Former five-star recruit Bryce Underwood has flopped as a quarterback, with questions raised as towhether the team should bench him. Frustrations
are mounting, and it's not just fans that are upset.
Zack Marshall, a senior tight end who was part of Jim Harbaugh's 2023 National Championship team, expressed his disgust with new offensive coordinator Tim Beck in a private group chat that leaked to social media Tuesday. In his comments, he alleged Beck told the team's tight ends "none of [them] are valuable to this offense" and said "this offense sucks," which, at 105th in points per game in the FBS might actually be an understatement.

While fans spent much of the day debating the veracity of the leaked screenshots, Marshall took to Twitter to take accountability and apologize for his comments.

Marshall had 16 catches for 199 yards last fall but has yet to record a catch in five games under Whittingham and Beck. The Wolverines have a bye week this weekend, but will host Penn State in a battle between two of the Big Ten's most disappointing teams.
