Jayson Tatum is tired of the drama surrounding him and Jaylen Brown. The Boston Celtics star cleared the air Friday after rumors of beef between him and Brown intensified after a seemingly pointed social media comment from Brown.
After powering the Celtics to a 107-103 win over the New York Knicks with 36 points, nine rebounds and seven assists, Tatum spoke candidly as to why there's no animosity between him and Brown. He also expressed interest in speaking with Brown directly to hash things out.
“I saw all these things about, ‘Get your popcorn ready when they play,’” Tatum said. “Like, it’s not a (expletive) boxing match. We play basketball. There’s no animosity. There’s no beef. And I just hate the way that the conversation or the narrative
around it -- there’s not enough communication. And I think a conversation would solve (the issues) or put out a lot of fires. And again, people process things at their own time. And whenever that happens, it will happen.”
The comments come shortly after Brown called cap in response to a video of Tatum describing feeling surprised by the Brown trade.
Tatum and Brown played nine seasons together, winning a championship in 2024. Brown won both Eastern Conference Finals and Finals MVP in '24, and it's long been rumored that caused a rift in their relationship.
