The Indiana Fever are gearing up for a 2026 WNBA offseason filled with question marks. Those question marks grew even bigger when the organization revealed that Fever president Kelly Krauskopf was stepping down, followed by news that general manager and COO Amber Cox had been fired.
Now, everything, including the Fever's free-agent approach, is up in the air until the team names a new general manager and president. This matters for several players, including guard Sophie Cunningham, who addressed it in a recent conversation with Yahoo Sports.
"There was not a lot of warming, a nd that's ok," Cunningham said. "That's probably a good thing that you kind of keep it in-house a little bit. But you know what, Kelly and Amber, they're phenomenal, phenomenal people;
they cared a lot about us as players and as individuals outside the court. I have nothing but great things to say about them. Hopefully, the Fever. come in and bring people who can do a really good job for that program. I was blessed to be under Kelly and Amber, and I hope them the very best, so we'll see what happens."
Cunningham is an impending free agent, and this move comes just weeks after Cox said the Fever will "be in conversations" with Cunningham about keeping her with the team, as Angela Moryan of WRTV Indianapolis reported.
